Be In London or be in Chicago, don't bother being anywhere else, it's just not worth it!

Ownership means acquiring, maintaining, and wielding power (the power to define, select, include, and exclude). What are the sources of American ownership? What is the history of American power? How is that power exercised today?

I Hate America! (I Love America): Who Owns Myth, Pop, Money, Race, and Terror in the Land of the Free? is a six-month collaboration and conversation between artists in the UK and the US - culminating on November 30, 2013 in concurrent daylong events in London and Chicago. Through presentations, conversation and video, the 10-hour event features artists, activists, scholars, and volunteers who will research, dissect, explore, discuss, protest, celebrate, and argue about the United States.

UK and US events will take place simultaneously on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Glass Factory in London (from 1:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m.) andDefibrillator Gallery in Chicago (from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).

I Hate America! (I Love America): Who Owns Myth, Pop, Money, Race, and Terror in the Land of the Free? is supported by DIY 10: 2013, a Live Art Development Agency initiative in collaboration with Platform. Additional funding for the project provided by the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, New York.

The work is produced by Lucky Pierre and is created, organized and realized with 31 collaborating UK and US artists. Community may or may not be built, but action will be attempted through discussions between former empire and shaky empire.

Fierce Festival Internship

October 21, 2013

Yes I know it is a little late, but I wanted to express my gratitutde to Fierce for an amazing festival once again. I have worked with them for the last 3 years, but this year was my first as a paid member of staff. I had the pleasure of working as Nicole Schuchardts production assistant. I mostly helped produce Worktable, however I was also lucky enough to perform alongside Atlanta Eke in Monster Body ( I got to mop up her urine!).

Once again I would just like to thank Harun Morrison and Laura McDermott (co-directors of Fierce) for taking me on, it was emotional!

I hate America (I love America)

Sept 23, 2013

A team of 30 artists, curators, creatives and I have been working on a political protest event in London. November 30th in locations around the White Building in Hackney Wick, will see a trifactor of reactions to the question; 'Who owns... in the land of the free?'. For twelve and a half hours live performance, video and  a constant online conversation shall tackle the issues of RACE, TERROR, MONEY, POP & MYTH in the USA!

This collaboration has been faceted by The Live Art UK agency in co-ordination with the creative direction of Lucky Pierre, a Chicago based performance group.

Keep posted for more information.

The Velvet State, Roskilde Festival

July 12, 2013

I have just returned from Denmark, where something magical has just happened. Performance art was received, by the mass, and they loved it. Whether they loved to hate it, or simply loved it, they flocked by the mass, queing for 7 hours and missing many of their favourite acts such as Metallica and Queens of the Stone Age.

I didn't know what to expect when Mark Ellis, founder of Collective Unconscious asked me to join him on an adventure to Denmark. I was sceptical as to what we would be doing. We had worked alongside each other at Birmingham's STATE events, but we hadn't met except for this. Little did I know he had been building an immersive experience for nearly 2 years with Copenhagen's Fiction Pimps

I arrived open and ready to get going. With a week of intensive workshops and bonding beyond the natural in such a short time, we were transported into a new world, I lost a part of myself when I left, but I know that we shall all re-unite to create the Sensuous Society again!

Thank You all, for Changing my life x

THE VELVET STATE

12pm-1am, Art Zone, Roskilde Festival, Roskilde, Denmark.

The Velvet State consists of plywood structures containing 13 rooms, a courtyard, a stage, installations, sounds and visuals and will house around 30 performers, amongst others from Club de la Faye (DK) who will engage in an interactive performance-dialogue with you. It is a kaleidoscope of rooms, inhabited by different sensuous modes of being. Some watching you from afar, whispering a twisted tune in your name, softly calling you in. Some because they need you help. Some a sacrifice. The Velvet State opens up to you through your engagement in its maintenance. Through your ability to linger and desire to explore. It is breeding a sensuous society. Furthermore it functions as a sensuous and dreamy framework for a series of performance acts amongst other performance concerts by Dorit Chrysler and Baby Dee (US), Nielsen Sisters (DK), Tantra (DK), intervening performance protest by Triangle Project (US, Cairo, DK) and Voina (RU), performance manifestations by Anna Petri in collaboration with amongst other Ramona Macho and Diana Tørsløv Møller, performance dance acts by Simulacrum (UK) and Horse/Pink eggs (DK) and soundmachines by Florinn B. (DE).
